È difficile, se non impossibile, riassumere in poche righe una vita, un pensiero che si è svolto lungo tutto il corso di questa vita. Bruno Latour è morto. Fu uno dei pensatori che con più forza affermò la necessità, per l’uomo, di riappropriarsi di una sensibilità storica che non lo porti a vivere in qualche Hinterwelt – in qualche mondo al di là del mondo, sia esso metafisico o propagandistico o ideologico – ma che lo radichi con consapevolezza, lucidità, coraggio, passione a questo mondo.

Es ist schwierig, wenn nicht gar unmöglich, ein Leben und einen Gedanken, der sich durch dieses Leben zog, in wenigen Zeilen zusammenzufassen. Bruno Latour ist tot. Er war einer der Denker, die am nachdrücklichsten die Notwendigkeit behauptet haben, dass der Mensch eine historische Sensibilität wiedererlangt, die ihn nicht dazu bringt, in einer Hinterwelt zu leben – in einer Welt hinter der Welt, sei sie metaphysisch oder propagandistisch oder ideologisch - sondern die ihn mit Bewusstsein, Klarheit, Mut und Leidenschaft in dieser Welt verwurzelt.

Il est difficile, voir impossible, de résumer en quelques lignes une vie, et la pensée qui s’est déroulée tout au long de celle-ci. Bruno Latour est mort. Il fut l’un des penseurs qui affirma avec le plus de force la nécessité, pour l’homme, de retrouver une sensibilité historique qui ne le conduise pas à vivre dans quelque Hinterwelt – un monde derrière le monde, soit-il métaphysique, propagandiste ou idéologique – mais qui puisse l’enraciner avec conscience, lucidité, courage et passion dans ce monde.

It is difficult, if not impossible, to summarise a life in a few lines, a life that has been thinking throughout its course. Bruno Latour is dead. He was one of the thinkers who most strongly affirmed the necessity, for humans, to regain a historical sensitivity that would not lead him to live in some Hinterwelt – in some world behind the world, be it metaphysical or propagandistic or ideological – but to take root with awareness, lucidity, courage and passion in this world.
